ORANGEBURG, S.C. – A pair of seven-run innings helped Georgia College & State University Baseball (18-20, 15-9 PBC) run away from Claflin University (1-34, 0-24 PBC) 19-6 on the road Sunday.

Combined with yesterday's doubleheader, the Bobcats sweep the season series with the Panthers, and improve to 9-0 all-time with Claflin.

Sophomore leftfielder Matthew Cassandra (Cumming, Georgia) slugged his first career home run, finishing with six RBIs, and third baseman Ben Tuten (Bristol, Georgia) went 4-for-4 to put a charge in the Bobcat offense.

Senior righty Davis Swenson (Toccoa, Georgia) went three innings for the win, improving his record to 2-4. He fanned five and allowed three runs.

Cassandra went 2-for-5 with the home run, six RBIs and a run scored. Tuten had three runs and two RBIs to go with his four hits. Rightfielder Brandon Bellflower (Milledgeville, Georgia) had two hits, four runs and an RBI, while yesterday's hero Jaxon Weatherford (Charleston) had a 2-for-4 game with an RBI and a run.

The Bobcats set the tone with a seven-run second. GCSU sent 12 batters to the plate that inning, tallying five hits, also taking advantage of three walks and a hit batsman. Tuten, Bellflower, Cassandra and Weatherford each had run-scoring singles in the frame, and centerfielder Matthew Chester (Evans, Georgia) added an RBI double.

The win puts the Bobcats at 15-9 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play this season, good for fourth in the league standings. GCSU has six PBC games left.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 21 at 6 p.m., hosting USC Aiken.
