MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Two big innings is all Georgia College & State University Baseball (20-21, 17-10 PBC) would need to beat Peach Belt Conference (PBC) leader USC Aiken (28-18, 19-8 PBC) 10-3 at John Kurtz Field Sunday.
The win, combined with a Saturday 2-1 Bobcat victory gives GCSU a series win over the Pacers two games to one.
The Bobcats scored six runs in the third and four more in the sixth, batting around in each frame. Rightfielder Brandon Bellflower (Milledgeville) provided a tide-turning three-run home run in that third inning, his second in as many days. He now has eight home runs this season and 20 in his career.
Freshman righty John Luke Glanton (Metter) got his first career start in a Peach Belt game, and rose to the occasion in a high-pressure situation. Glanton (2-2) buzzed through seven innings with six hits and a walk, just a single run and seven strikeouts. His previous long appearance was 2 1/3 innings.
Second baseman Gabriel Weurth (Woodstock) had three hits in four trips, including a double, scoring twice. Designated hitter Baylin Moore (Albany) was 2-for-4 with a double as well, scoring once and plating another. Bellflower finished with four RBIs, adding a bases-loaded hit batsman in the sixth.
The win puts GCSU at 17-10 in PBC play, tied for fourth in the league standings. The Bobcats have three conference games remaining.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, April 26 at 5 p.m., traveling to No. 30 University of West Georgia.
