DAHLONEGA, Ga.- No.6- seeded Georgia College & State University (26-24, 12-15, PBC) lost 7-1 to No. 1-seeded University of North Georgia (49-6, 24-3 PBC) to end the 2023 season.
The Bobcat offense plated one run on three hits. The lone run and two hits came in the top half of the second inning. Both Ashley Schell (Cumming) and Katelyn Hobbs (Thomasville) reached base on a single. K. Hobbs came around to score on a wild pitch to account for the only Bobcat run. The last hit for GCSU came in the fifth inning on a base knock by Mackenzie Martin (Dacula).
Shelby Jones (Kissimmee, Fla.) got the start and the loss in the circle for GCSU. Jones (10-10) only allowed two earned runs on five hits in her four and a third innings of work. Jana Shellhorse (McDonough) closed the game only allowing one run on one hit in one and third innings of work.
