Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – A sacrifice fly was all the scoring for the entire game Tuesday at John Kurtz Field, as Georgia College & State University Baseball (14-17) lost to Emmanuel College (20-15) 1-0.
The Bobcats used five pitchers and Emmanuel used four. GCSU's arms held the Lions to eight hits and one run, not walking a single batter and fanning six.
The Lions plated their run in the eighth, getting a pair of singles, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.
Junior righty Davis Swenson (Toccoa) threw the first four frames, tallying three strikeouts and three hits. Freshman lefty Caden Tillman (Hamilton) took over for two innings, posting a strikeout and a single hit. Next came senior Ashton Sturgell (Evans) in the seventh, allowing a single hit with another whiff, while John Luke Glanton (Metter) took the loss (1-2) allowing the run in the eighth. Sophomore righty Aidan McConnell (Roswell) wrapped it up with a hit and a strikeout in the ninth.
The Bobcats were held to seven hits, all singles. Leftfielder Matthew Cassandra (Cumming) was 2-for-4 and second baseman Gabriel Weurth (Woodstock) finished 2-for-5 with a stolen base.
GCSU Baseball is back in action Thursday, April 6 at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader at Lander University.
