ROME, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Softball (23-16, 9-9 PBC) lost 3-0 and 5-3 on the road at Shorter University (7-31, 1-19 GSC) in a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader.
The Bobcats were held to only five hits in the first game and weren't able to bring any runs across. Emily Hobbs (Thomasville) led the offense going 2-for-3 as the only player with multiple hits. She also had the only multi-base knock of the contest.
Montana Ledbetter (Hanna City, Illinois) picked up the start in the circle and the loss. Ledbetter (5-2) pitched 2.1 innings only allowing a single earned run.
In game two the Bobcats were able to string some hits together and plate three runs. Kam Caldwell (Athens) led the offense with three hits in a 3-for-4 day. Ashley Schell (Cumming) went 2-for-2 as the only other Bobcat with multiple hits. Jaycee Haycraft (Louisville) pushed across two of the three runs on a single and a sacrifice fly.
Sydney Lancaster (Woodstock) got the start and the loss in the circle in game two. Lancaster (0-1) only allowed a single run to come around in two innings of work.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, April 7 at the Peeler Complex to take on Georgia Southwestern State University for a doubleheader. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m. with game two to follow. Live stats and broadcast links will be available at GCBobcats.com.
