GREENWOOD, S.C.- Georgia College & State University Baseball (15-19, 12-9 PBC) falls to Lander University (16-22, 11-10 PBC) 6-4 to conclude the series.
Lander struck first with a single run in the bottom of the second inning. Georgia College countered in the fifth inning with two runs. The first run came around as the Bobcat catcher Trevor Knowles (Folkston, Georgia) put the ball in play and forced an errant throw by the Bearcats shortstop. Gabriel Weurth (Woodstock, Georgia) drove a deep fly ball to right field to bring in the second run.
GCSU continued to score in the sixth inning as they took a 3-1 lead on a ground out by Baylin Moore (Albany, Georgia). Lander answered with a three-run bottom of the sixth inning to bring the game to 4-3 in the Bearcat's favor.
Jaxon Weatherford (Charleston) drove in the final Bobcat run on a single up the middle in the top of the eighth inning.
Brandon Bellflower (Milledgeville, Ga.) led the offense with an impressive 4-for-5 with four singles. Weatherford had an outstanding day as well going 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Weatherford also had the lone multi-base hit of the day for GCSU with a double down the right-field line.
Trey Felt (Lawrenceville, Georgia) got the start going five and two-thirds innings pitched. He only allowed three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Davis Swenson (Toccoa, Georgia) was the first reliever and picked up the loss throwing 1.1 innings allowing two earned runs on two hits while picking up two strikeouts.
