CHARLOTTE, N.C. | The Georgia College & State University women's cross country team finished in second place at the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens University of Charlotte Friday (Oct. 11) afternoon.
The Bobcats finished second out of 17 teams in the Blue Race with 71 points. Washington and Lee University won the event with 55 points.
GCSU had three runners finish inside the top 20.
Lauren Thisdale led the way with a time of 19:33.09 on the McAlpine Creek Park 5K course and finished in eighth place, while
Abbie Brown and
Lorena Cazora finished in 12th and 13th, respectively. Brown had a time of 19:44.74, while Cazora posted an effort of 19:44.97.
Jillian Muncus and
Haven Bejnerowicz both finished just outside the top 20. Muncus had a time of 20:08.19 to come in 21st place, while Bejnerowicz was 22nd with a 20:09.40 time.
Emily Wright was 32nd with a time of 20:24.63 and was followed by
Kylee Geveke (40th, 20:43.39),
Anna Agi (41st, 20:49.60),
Lauren Hailey (50th, 21:05.22),
Eva Jeswald (58th, 21:20.82),
Maddie Reese Smith (62nd, 21:27.72),
Campbell Smith (66th, 21:36.93) and
Anna Lavoie (79th, 22:06.28).
The Bobcats return to action Oct. 26 when they travel to Oakwood, Georgia, to take part in the Peach Belt Conference Championship that will be held on the UNG Cross Country Course at 10:15 a.m.
