No. 2 Columbus State eliminates GCSU 2-0 in PBC Tournament semifinals

COLUMBUS, Ga. | Columbus State University eliminated Georgia College & State University 2-0 in the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Tournament Friday (Nov. 15) evening at the Walden Soccer Complex.

The No. 1 seeded Cougars improved to 18-0-1, while the Bobcats, who were the tournament's No. 4 seed, ended their 2024 campaign at 9-7-3 and saw their season-high five-match winning streak snapped. It was the first semifinal appearance in the tournament for GCSU since 2018. CSU, which is ranked No. 2 nationally, advances to Sunday's (Nov. 17) 1 p.m. championship match.

Michelle Medina scored her 10th goal of the season at the 34:24 mark to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. CSU added an insurance goal from Faith Knoedler six minutes into the second half. Knoedler's sixth goal of 2024 was assisted by Emma Beddow.

CSU outshot GCSU 17-4, including 10-1 on goal. Ava Martin registered two shots for the Bobcats, while Adriana Duque and Grace Phillips tallied one apiece. CSU collected six corner kicks to three for GCSU. Martin and Duque were each selected to the All-PBC Tournament team.

Bobcat goalkeeper Maddie Drake posted eight saves in net.
