MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Zyair Greene and Oscar Lynch combined for 33 points to lead a balanced attack by the Georgia College & State University men's basketball team as they pick up a comfortable 75-51 non-conference victory over Belmont Abbey College Saturday (Dec. 21) afternoon inside the Centennial Center.
GCSU improved to 5-5, while the Crusaders fell to 1-6. The Bobcats break for the holidays and return to the Centennial Center one final time in 2024 as they host Emmanuel (Ga.) University in a 3 p.m. contest Dec. 31. The 24-point victory was the largest of the season for GCSU.
Belmont Abbey jumped out to an early five-point lead (10-5), but the Bobcats took the lead for good at 15-13 with 11:36 remaining after Khalil Green dropped one of 14 three-pointers GCSU hit. The Bobcats would continue to add on throughout the remainder of the half, with a Mason Etter putback giving Georgia College a double-digit 11-point lead (36-25) heading into the locker room.
The second half was much of the same for the Bobcats as they extended their lead out to as many as 25 points (67-42) as Green hit one of his six three-pointers with 4:48 to play.
Greene led the Bobcats with 22 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds, while Lynch would crack double-digits with 11 points as he hit 3-of-4 three-pointers. Georgia College won the rebound battle by 10 (37-27) as Ian Davis, Green, and Luke Krawczyk added five apiece. Krawczyk also added eight points for the Bobcats, while Aidan Kudlas finished with five assists.
