WINGATE, N.C. | Georgia College & State University have moved up two positions to No. 5 in this week's Division II College Sports Communicators Southeast Region Poll.
The poll is voted on by six sports information directors in the region (two per conference).
GCSU is off to a 6-1 start after picking up a 57-50 home win over Fort Valley State University last week.
Carson-Newman University received two first-place votes and is ranked first followed by the University of North Georgia, which received the other four first-place votes, Francis Marion University, Coker University and GCSU to fill out the top five. Belmont Abbey College is listed sixth and is followed by the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Columbus State University, Augusta University and Georgia Southwestern State University to complete the top 10.
The Bobcats have two games this week. GCSU will face Southern Wesleyan University at 5 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 4) in Central, South Carolina, before hosting Columbus State in their Peach Belt Conference opener at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 7) inside the Centennial Center.
