AUGUSTA, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Men's Basketball fell in the midweek contest against Augusta University, 89-70.
GCSU fell to 14-13 on the season and 7-10 in the Peach Belt Conference. AU improved to 16-11 overall and 9-7 in the conference. Georgia College is back in action Sunday, March 3 at 3:00 p.m. against Columbus State University in the Centennial Center.
Augusta had a hot first quarter scoring 44 points to the Bobcats' 22. GCSU tried to cut the 22 point deficit coming out of the half but fell short despite outscoring the Jaguars 48-45.
Brendan Rigsbee led the Bobcats in scoring with 23 point coming on eight field goals and six free throws.
Luke Chism had a hot hand going 4-for-5 from the floor and 2-for-3 from three point range to lead to his 11-point game.
Ian Davis was right behind Chism with a 10-point evening coming from three buckets from the floor two of which were from long range and a pair of free throws.
Austin Sloan led the rebounding effort with seven. Six of his boards came on the defensive side of the ball. Sloan also added eight points as the fourth leading scorer.
Brady Spence had the second most rebounds with five, four of which came under the Augusta basket.
