AUGUSTA, Ga. | Georgia College & State University baseball's John Raines has been named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week ending March 10.

Raines entered the second game of the series against the University of South Carolina-Beaufort in the bottom of the third inning with two outs and 10 Sand Shark runs already across the plate. The sophomore right-handed pitcher from Powder Springs, Georgia, then proceeded to finish the game, going 6.1 innings with three hits, no runs, and three walks allowed while striking out a career-high 12. He earned his third win of the season as the Bobcats rallied to win the game 16-10. He struck out the side in order in the sixth and no baserunner made it past second base with him on the mound. Raines is currently fourth in the PBC in strikeouts (40), sixth in opponent batting average (2.15) and 10th in earned-run average (3.60).

The Bobcats return to action Tuesday (March 12) when they travel to Newberry, South Carolina, for a 5 p.m. game against Newberry College.
