MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The 2024-25 season gets underway in earnest for Georgia College & State University athletics teams this weekend.
Volleyball tips off their season at home inside the Centennial Center Friday (Sept. 6) and Saturday (Sept. 7) as they welcome four teams - Albany State University, Lee University, Southern Wesleyan University and Young Harris - for the 2024 Bobcat Classic. GCSU will play each day at 2 and 7 p.m. The Bobcats will face Southern Wesleyan (2 p.m.) and Albany State University (7 p.m.) Friday and will conclude the tournament Saturday against Lee (2 p.m.) and Young Harris (7 p.m.). Tickets are $10 per day for adults and $5 for children. As GCSU is moving to a cashless ticket payment system, only credit cards and Apple Pay will be accepted at the gate and at the concession stand.
The Bobcats open the 2024 women's soccer campaign in Salisbury, North Carolina, for two matches. GCSU will face Chowan University at 5 p.m. Friday (Sept. 6) and they will round out the weekend Sunday (Sept. 8) at 3 p.m. when they face No. 13 Catawba College. Â
The Bobcats open the cross country season Friday (Sept. 6) with two meets. GCSU will compete at the Eye Opener hosted by the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Bobcats will also compete at the GMC Brickyard Invitational hosted by Georgia Military College at the Council Farms Cross Country Course beginning at 5:45 p.m.
