ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Josiah Shackelford scored 25 points to lead Flagler College past Georgia College & State University 73-56 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday (Jan. 11) evening inside the Flagler Gymnasium.
The Bobcats dropped their fourth straight game, falling to 5-9 overall and to 0-4 in conference play, while the Saints improved to 8-5 and 2-2. GCSU looks to end its losing streak in a Peach Belt contest against the University of South Carolina-Beaufort Wednesday (Jan. 15) at 7:30 p.m. in Bluffton, South Carolina.
Georgia College kept a close game against Flagler during the opening minutes of the first half; however, the Saints slowly but surely extended their lead as the half progressed and finished the half with a 12-point lead (37-25).
Things did not go much better to begin the second half as the Saints reeled off a 12-0 run after James Nichols III opened the half with a jumper for GCSU. Flagler led by as many 25 points (66-41) in the second 20 minutes.
Nichols III and Oscar Lynch each scored 10 points for the Bobcats, while Tony Carpio would notch seven rebounds and two steals.
