Bernis digs GCSU past Coker in four sets

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Alanis Bernis set a single-game record for digs in a four-set match as Georgia College & State University picked up a 26-24, 17-25, 25-18 and 25-23 women's volleyball victory over Coker University Tuesday (Oct. 21) evening at the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats improved to 12-9, while the Cobras slithered to 8-11. GCSU steps back into Peach Belt Conference action Friday (Oct. 24) with a 6 p.m. home match against Flagler College.

Alanis Bernis, a senior from Auburn, Georgia, accumulated 38 digs to run her career total to 1,541, which is No. 2 in program history. Her 38 digs was one more than the previous record of 37 set by Jordyn Moellering against Young Harris College back in 2021. The 38 digs is also second most in any length match for the Bobcats.

Emersyn Mullvain and Kaylee Weeks each led GCSU with 10 kills, while Nya Warren added seven more. Ile Bernis led the Bobcats with 17 assists while Lexi Baum had eight and Sadie Parkerson had seven. Weeks also finished with eight digs, while Parkerson had seven. Sierra Piland and Mullvain each claimed four total blocks, while Hayley Shepherd and Warren had two apiece.
