Krawczyk leads GCSU over Converse 81-62

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Luke Krawczyk nearly had a double double as the Georgia College & State University men's basketball team defeated Converse University 81-62 in a non-conference game Saturday (Nov. 29) afternoon at the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats improved to 3-2 and they return to action Wednesday (Dec. 3) when they open up Peach Belt Conference action against Clayton State University at home at 7:30 p.m. The Valkryies fell to 1-4.

 Krawczyk tied his career high with 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor and was one off his career best with nine rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. Julian Walker also nearly finished with a double double with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Aidan Kudlas and Khalil Green also finished in double figures with 10 points apiece. Green also distributed seven assists, while Walker added four blocked shots.

Converse jumped out to an early 6-2 lead, but the Bobcats, who led for over 36 minutes, took the lead for good at 7-6 on a layup by James Nichols III with 16:13 left in the first half. GCSU used an 11-2 run to open its leads to 25-12 on a Krawczyk layup six minutes later. The Valkryies got as close as six points, but the Bobcats took a 39-31 at the half.

The Bobcats scored the first seven points over the first two minutes of the second half to open up a 15-point lead (46-31) on a Green three-poinrter. The closest Converse would get the remainder of the game was 11 points (48-37). GCSU opened its largest lead - 24 points (77-53) - on a Conyer Smith three-pointer with 2:03 to play.

GCSU held a 52-38 advantage on the glass with the Bobcats scoring 36 points in the paint.
