Jaguars spoil Senior Day for Bobcats 74-55

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Hannah Cail accumulated 20 points on Senior Day, but Georgia College & State University fell to Augusta University 74-55 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Tuesday (Feb. 25) evening inside the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats lost their final home contest of the regular season, falling to 16-11 overall and to 9-8 in the PBC, while the Jaguars climbed to 19-8 and 11-6. GCSU plays its final game of the regular season Sunday (March 2) in Columbus, Georgia, at 1 p.m. against Columbus State University.

GCSU celebrated its nine senior - Chandler Davis, Evie DePetro, Alexis Figures, Cierra Foster, Camryn James, Miracle Parker, Jada Warren, Ashyia Willis, and Amelia Wylly - in postgame ceremonies.

Both teams started the game slow, but Augusta led 15-12 after the end of the first quarter.

The Jaguars started the second hot, as Mone Florence put through a three-pointer, and Augusta quickly increased its lead to eight. However, three-pointers from Cail, DePetro, and Nylah Nuri dropped the deficit, and Augusta only led 38-32 at the half.

The Augusta lead ballooned to double-digits early to begin the second half and stayed that way for the remainder of the third quarter as the Bobcats could not dig into the Jaguar lead.

Augusta only increased its lead in the fourth quarter. After halftime, Augusta outscored the Bobcats 36-23 and never looked back.

Cail's 20 points led the Bobcats, followed by Nuri (9) and Willis (7). Warren led in rebounds with 10.
