GCSU prevails 4-3 over No. 48 Augusta

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University rallied to win four singles matches as they prevailed over No. 48 Augusta University 4-3 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Thursday (March 13) afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts.

The Bobcats improved to 8-2 overall and to 2-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Jaguars fell to 7-4 and 0-2. GCSU starts its spring break trip Saturday (March 15) with a 10 a.m. Central time match against Delta State University in Pensacola, Florida.

Chiara Santoro and Rachel Black picked up a 7-5 decision in No. 1 doubles, but Augusta claimed the other two doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.

After a win by the Jaguars at No. 5 singles to take a 2-0 lead, the Bobcats tied the match at 2 after Jada Young at No. 2 singles (7-5, 6-2) and Black at No. 4 singles (6-1, 5-7. 6-2) picked up victories. GCSU took the lead at 3-2 when Santoro won a pair of tiebreakers (7-6 (3), 7-6 (5)) at No. 1 singles.

Augusta tied the match at 3 with a win at No. 3 singles, but the Bobcats claimed the win when Shradha Chhabra notched a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
