GREENWOOD, S.C. | Evan Wickeri had three hits and drove in three runs to lead Lander University to an 8-3 Peach Belt Conference baseball victory over Georgia College & State University Sunday (April 13) afternoon at Dolny Stadium.
The Bearcats improved to 29-13 overall and to 17-4 in the PBC, while the Bobcats dropped their first league series of the year as they fell to 26-17 and 17-4. GCSU returns to action Thursday (April 17) at 6 p.m. when they host Columbus State University to open a three-game PBC series at John Kurtz Field.
Wickeri gave Lander a 1-0 lead on sacrifice fly in the third inning off GCSU starter
Mason Brown (7-1). The Bearcats exploded for five runs - highlighted by a two-run single from Wickeri - an inning later to open up a 6-0 lead.
Connor Droze added a two-run double in the sixth inning to give Lander an 8-0 lead.Â
GCSUÂ got two runs back in the seventh.
Gabe Wuerth, who had three of the eight hits for GCSU,  had an RBI double to right-center before
Ben Hamacher drove in the other on a ground out. The Bobcats added a run in the eighth inning on a
Carson Phillips single to right-center.Â
