ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | Shelby Jones limited the Saints to two hits, as Georgia College & State University took down Flagler College 7-0 in a Peach Belt Conference softball contest Friday (April 25) evening at the Flagler Softball Field.

The Bobcats improved to 22-22 and 13-9 in the PBC, while the Saints fell to 30-18 and 13-9. GCSU finishes the series in a doubleheader Saturday (April 26), with the opener scheduled for 1 p.m.

Divina Checo opened up the scoring, homering to left field for a 1-0 Bobcat lead. The Bobcats plated two more runs in the second inning, as Reina Checo drove in Eliza Kuhne on a double down the left line, and Kam Caldwell drove in Reina Checo to make it 3-0.

Emily Hutcheson scored Sydney Lancaster on a sacrifice fly in the third inning to continue the Bobcat scoring. While Maddie Todd hit the second Bobcat home run of the night, driving in Hutcheson and Karlie Gutierrez to give Jones a comfortable lead to work with.

Jones (11-10) worked all seven innings in the win, giving up only one walk on top of the two aforementioned hits. She also struck out three.

Four Bobcats had extra-base hits in the effort, with doubles to Gutierrez and Reina Checo, as well as the two home runs from Divina Checo and Todd.
