MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University took down Lander University in a five-set duel to take a 25-21, 26-24, 18-25, 18-25 and 15-13 Peach Belt Conference women's volleyball victory Friday (Sept. 26) evening inside the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats improved to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the league, while the Bearcats fell to 6-5 and 0-1. The Bobcats snapped a 12-match losing streak in the Peach Belt, while GCSU halted a six-match streak to Lander, which was the defending Peach Belt regular season championships in 2024. GCSU returns to action Saturday (Sept. 27) with another home conference showdown at 3 p.m. against Augusta University.
Camryn Carlton and Kaylee Weeks led the Bobcats in kills with 15 each, while Hayley Shepherd contributed six, and Sierra Piland and Avery Huyck tallied five. Alanis Bernis protected the Bobcats via 31 digs, while Weeks added 14 of her own. Huyck and Riese Johnson collected eight and seven digs, respectively. Johnson provided 22 assists, and Lexi Baum distributed 14. Carlton had a pair of solo blocks, while Nya Warren had one of her own.
