ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | Georgia College & State University and Eckerd College battled to a 1-1 draw in a non-conference women's soccer match Saturday (Oct. 10) afternoon at Johnson Field.
The Bobcats improved to 6-3-3, while the Tritons fell to 5-2-6. GCSU returns to the Bobcat Soccer Field Wednesday (Oct. 14) when they host the University of North Georgia in a 7 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match.
GCSU staked themselves to a 1-0 lead at the 21:21 mark on an own goal.
Mackenzly Cheely's strike was redirected into the back of the net when an Eckerd defender tried to clear the ball.
Eckerd tied the match with just over 14 minutes remaining as Jasmine Gallo converted a penalty kick after two players collided in the box while chasing for a loose ball after a sideline throw-in by the Tritons.
The Tritons held a 15-10 edge in shots, but only a 6-5 margin on goal. Eckerd doubled up the Bobcats on corner kicks 4-2.
