DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University women's cross country team finished in seventh place at the Georgia Tech Cross Country Invitational Friday (Oct. 2) morning.
The Bobcats saw all nine of their runners establish personal-best times on the 6K course at the Fox Hall Sporting Club, but three were among the top 20 6K times in program history. GCSU, which is ranked eighth regionally, was the top NCAA Division II institution in the field with 184 points. Host Georgia Tech won the meet with 25 points, 17 more than the University of North Florida.
Erin O'Brien ran the third-fastest 6K time in Bobcat history as she came in 18th place with a time of 22.09.7.
Sydney Thisdale and
Haven Bejnerowicz also established top-20 times in GCSU history,
Sydney Thisdale record the 18th-best time of 23.23.9 as she came in 49th, while Behnerowicz had the 20th-best effort of 23.26.6 as she placed 52nd.
Avery Sams came in 65th place with a time of 23.45.3 and was followed by
Lauren Thisdale (69th, 23.46.2),
Keli George (82nd, 24.19.7),
Madeline Harron (83rd, 24.21.2),
Ana Miller (86th, 24.33.4) and
Emma Jow (92nd, 24.43.5).
The Bobcats return to action next Friday (Oct. 9) when they host the Bobcat Invitational presented by Chick-fil-A of Middle Georgia. The 5K race will start at 5 p.m. on the Bobcat Cross Country Course.
