No. 37 Middle Georgia holds off GCSU to win 4-3

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | No. 37 Middle Georgia State University recorded a 4-3 Peach Belt Conference women's tennis victory over Georgia College & State University Saturday (March 28) afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts.

The Knights improved to 7-4 overall and to 2-0 in the league, while the Bobcats fell to 8-7 and 1-1. GCSU hits the road Thursday (April 2) when the face the University of North Georgia in a 3 p.m. PBC match in Dahllonega, Georgia.

Middle Georgia opened the match with the doubles point, but Laura Almagro and Natalie Kirka teamed up for the Bobcats to win 6-4 at No. 2.

Victoria Conde Vendrell and Lucy Kim earned straight-set wins in singles for GCSU, while Kirka outlasted her opposition at No. 3 singles in three sets.  Vendrell won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2, while Kim registered a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory at No. 5. Kirka dropped her first set 6-1 before recovering to win sets two and three by scores of 7-5 and 7-6 (4).
