MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University wrapped up its season opening Bobcat Classic Saturday (Aug. 29) inside the Centennial Center.
GCSU absorbed two losses to run its record to 0-4. The Bobcats were defeated by Carson-Newnan University in their opener 25-16, 25-17 and 25-19 before closing out the Classic with a 25-22, 17-25, 25-16 and 25-22 loss to Albany State University.
The Bobcats hit the road Friday (Sept. 4) to compete in the Pickle Invitational in Mount Olive, North Carolina. GCSU will face tournament host University of Mount Olive (11 a.m.) and Shaw University (7 p.m.) on the opening day of the event.
Avery Huyck and
Sierra Piland each led GCSU with six kills against Carson-Newman, while
Lexi Baum tallied 14 assists.
Milla Smith paced the Bobcats with nine digs, while Baum contributed seven.
Piland had nine digs in the nightcap against the Golden Rams, while Huyck had six more.
Miki Parrott distributed 10 assists, while
Sadie Parkerson had nine. Smith also collected 19 digs.
