AUGUSTA, Ga. | Georgia College & State University women's soccer players Mackenzly Cheely and Kassidy Fortin earned weekly accolades from the Peach Belt Conference.

Cheely, a senior midfielder from Brooks, Georgia, was named the Player of the Week, while Fortin, a senior goalkeeper from Suwanee, Georgia,  was named the Goalkeeper of the Week,.

Cheely scored three goals in two matches - both wins - last week. She had the game-winning goal in 2-0 win over Anderson (S.C.) University and then scored the first two goals in a 3-0 PBC victory over Flagler College. It was the first win against the Saints since 2015, snapping an 0-10-2 streak to Flagler. Cheely leads the PBC in goals per game (0.833), tied for second in game-winning goals (2), third in points (11) and points per game (1.83), and tied for third in goals scored (5).

Fortin, who was also named the Zaxbys Player of the Week, registered her first two clean sheets of the season. She had 10 saves in 180 minutes of action, with six against Flagler and four more against Anderson. Fortin is tied for second in the league in shutouts with two.

GCSU, which is currently on a three-match winning streak, is 4-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the Peach Belt. The Bobcats will travel to Jefferson City, Tennessee, for a 5 p.m. non-conference match against Carson-Newman University Wedensday (Sept. 23).
