MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University fell to the Universty of South Carolina-Aiken in four sets Friday (Sept. 25) in Peach Belt Conference women's volleyball action at the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats moved to 3-14 overall and 0-3 in Peach Belt. USCA improved to 9-3 and 1-1. GCSU returns to action Tuesday (Sept. 29) when they travel to Macon, Georgia, for a 6 p.m. PBC match against Middle Georgia State University.
GCSU came out strong in the opening set, recording 11 kills with just three errors to take a 25-23 victory. The Bobcats carried the momentum into a tightly contested second set, collecting 16 kills before USC Aiken edged GCSU 26-24 to even the match.
The Pacers gained control from there, taking the third set 25-19 before closing out the match with a 25-17 victory in the fourth.
Avery Huyck led the Bobcats offensively with 16 kills, followed by Kendra Leboehi and Emersyn Mullvain with nine apiece. Ile Bernis dished out 19 assists, with Miki Parrott adding 17 and Liv Diaz recording nine.
Diaz led the defensive effort with 13 digs, followed by Parrott with 10 and Bernis with eight. Sierra Piland led GCSU at the net with two blocks, while Huyck and Leboehi added one apiece.
