MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Bobcats rolled past
the No. 25 Wingate Bulldogs 63-55 tonight (Dec. 29) in a huge upset
in the second game of the 2008 Craig Massee Real Estate Classic.
Georgia College & State University was led by junior
Antoinette Reames
(Orlando, Fla.) who scored 15 points, snatched 13 rebounds
(12 which were defensive) and seven swats. This marks the first
double-double by a Bobcat this season. The seven blocks ties a
20-year-old record set by Sherita Ballard, the
only Georgia College Women's Basketball Hall of Famer.
After taking an early 2-0 advantage, the Bulldogs found
themselves never able to regain the lead. The team's efforts only
earned two ties in the second half. Sarah Rosser came off the bench
scoring 14 to lead the Bulldogs. Wingate had no starter score in
double digits.
Woodstock native Tiauna
Brantley scored 10 points and has been in double
digits in all six games this season. Reserve Dominique Huffin
(Tucker, Ga.) came off the bench scoring 12 and grabbing
seven boards.
The Bobcats move to 3-3 on the season and battle Newberry
College tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the Centennial Center for the last
match-up of the tournament.
