S.C. - The No. 4 Georgia College
& State University men's tennis team (10-1) made it eight
straight wins by taking down the Flying Fleet of Erskine College
(3-9) 9-0 earlier today (March 20).
Erick
Siqueira (Sao Paulo,
Brazil) and Justin Pickham
(Armidale,
Australia) beat Erskine's Caleb
Barnes and Angelo Ciarrocchi 8-2 at first singles. The Bobcat
twosome moves to 9-1 on the season.
At second singles, the Bobcat duo of Joao Casagrande
(Sao Paulo,
Brazil) and Francis Yoshimoto
(Sao Paulo,
Brazil) defeated the team of
Fabio Ciarrocchi and Vincent Chauvette 8-3.
With the score of 8-5, Giovane
Nucci (Santa
Cantarina,
Brazil) and Max Beliankou
(Minsk,
Belarus) won
against Ryan Miller and Nemanja Brcan at the third singles
slot.
Siqueira defeated Brcan at the first singles spot 6-2, 6-2.
Siqueira moves to 6-4 on the season.
Pickham has won back-to-back matches. Pickham beat Barnes 6-3,
7-5 at second singles. Yoshimoto blanked Angelo Ciarrocchi 6-0,
6-0. Yoshitmoto moves to 10-1 on the 2009 campaign winning eight
straight matches. Nucci, also blanked his opponent, Chauvette, 6-0,
6-0. Nucci remains undefeated in the month of March and posts a 6-3
record.
Beliankou shut down Fabio Ciarocchi 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles
and is victorious in his last five matches. Beliankou also improves
to 9-2 on the year. Bernardes was victorious over Miller 6-3, 6-1.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, March 21 against Peach
Belt Conference foe and No. 11 Francis Marion University, with
matches starting at 11 a.m.
