JONESBORO,
Ga. - The No. 1 seed Georgia
College & State University men's tennis team blanked North
Georgia, the No. 8 seed, 5-0 today (April 18) in the second
round of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships.
Georgia College took all three doubles matches and won at first
and sixth singles to take the match. At the PBC tourney they play
the first team to reach five points wins the match.
Robert Angelucci
(Acworth,
Ga.) and Erick Siqueira
(Sao Paulo,
Brazil) teamed up at third
doubles and defeated the duo of Daniel Aguilon and Brandon Sloan
8-2, the largest margin of victory for the Bobcats.
At first doubles, the Sao Paulo duo of Joao
Casagrande and Francis
Yoshimoto beat the twosome of Grant Partrick and
Adrien Saulais 8-5. Giovane Nucci
(Santa Catarina,
Brazil) and Max Beliankou
(Minsk,
Belarus) edged Samuel Moore and
Luciano Paes Neto 8-6 at second doubles.
Siqueira shutout Neto 6-0, 6-0 at first singles.
Casagrande sealed the victory for the Bobcats defeating Sloan
6-0, 6-2.
The Bobcats will now face the No. 5 seed, USC Aiken, later
today, April 18 at 6:30 p.m.
