Clark Interview
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – On "Senior
Day" for Georgia College soccer (7-4-1, 4-1-1 PBC) fans saw
an exciting game against Flagler College (5-6-2, 2-3-1 PBC) that
went into double overtime as neither team was able to net a goal, a
0-0 draw.
Goalkeeper Mary Rob Plunkett (Augusta, Ga.) was
phenomenal in the nets tonight as she recorded four huge saves in
110 minutes of play. Plunkett made a great stop late in second
quarter as Flager's Lindsay Zullo had a great opportunity
with less than four minutes to get a goal. The senior goalie also
snagged saves in both overtime periods that would have won the game
for the Saints.
Plunkett has 19 career shutouts and is now sixth in the Peach
Belt Conference (PBC) all-time. She moved ahead of Haley Epsteen of
the University of North Florida (2001-04) who has 18 career
shutouts.
Freshmen Taylor Yee (Alpharetta, Ga.) and
Katie Taylor (Sharpsburg, Ga.) both had two shots
on goal to led the 'Cats.
Zullo led the Saints with four shots, two of which were on goal.
Cristina Coca had seven saves in the game.
The Bobcats outshot the Saints 21-14 and won 7-4 on corner
kicks.
Tonight was "Senior Night" for six Georgia College
players. Midfielder Kelli McLane (Lawrenceville,
Ga.), forward Jessica Newland (Hiram,
Ga.), forward Kayla Emerson (Fayetteville,
Ga.), defender Jessica Binkowski (Cumming,
Ga.), defensive-mid Ally Treat (Fayetteville,
Ga.) and All-American goalie Plunkett were all recognized
before the game.
