MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 29 Georgia College
& State University women's tennis team (1-1) dropped an 8-1
match to No. 4 Valdosta State University (1-0) tonight at the
Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
The lone win for the Bobcats came in the first doubles slot, as
the French duo of Diane Danna
and Bertille
Lion toppled Raphaelle Durante and Tina Trautmann 8-6.
Kayla
Barksdale (Martinez, Ga.) and Michelle Lingner
(Dunwoody, Ga.) dropped an 8-2 score to Natali Gumbrecht
and H.Bees at second doubles. In the third slot, Adriana Acuna
(Peachtree City, Ga.) and Linda Mosa (Stockholm,
Sweden) were blanked 8-0 by the No. 19 duo of Kristel de
Groot and Sonya Haggstrom.
The best fight the Bobcats put up in singles came in the fifth
and third slots. At No. 5 Mosa was edged by de Groot 7-6, 6-2. Lion
lost in the third spot to Bees 6-4, 6-3.
No. 7 Gumbrecht beat Danna 6-1, 6-1 in first singles. No. 40
Durante topped Barksdale 6-1, 6-3.
Lingner was blanked by Haggstrom in the fourth slot, and Acuna
lost to N.Hernandez 6-2, 6-2.
The Bobcats are back in action Thursday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m.,
traveling to No. 43 Lees-McRae College.
