DAHLONEGA, Ga. - Senior guard Ty Rowland (Lilburn,
Ga.) poured in a career-high 26 points, helping the No. 17
Georgia College & State University men's basketball team (22-4,
15-2 PBC) to an 84-68 victory at North Georgia (15-12, 10-7 PBC)
Saturday night.
Rowland hit 6-of-8 from downtown and 8-of-12 overall, adding
four assists and six rebounds. Senior Graham Martin
(Marietta, Ga.) did a great job getting to the line,
adding 19 points while going 12-of-12 from the free-throw stripe.
Junior forward Josh Hurst (Athens,
Ga.) went 6-of-10 from the floor, finishing with 17
points.
The Saints had four double-figure scorers, led by Carl Taylor's
19 points. Andrew Bennett and Tyler Norman added 15 points each,
with Bernard Rimmer tallying 11.
The second half told the story, as the Bobcats took a one-point
game and out-scored NGCSU 43-28. The 'Cats hit 12-of-23 from
the floor in the second half, good for 52 percent. GCSU put the
clamps on defensively, allowing just 33 percent second half
shooting from the Saints, 10-of-30 shooting.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, March 3 at 7 p.m.,
hosting the first round of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC)
Tournament. As the No. 1 seed, the Bobcats will take on No. 4-seed
Clayton State University at the Centennial Center.
