MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 30 Georgia
College & State University women's tennis team (8-10)
dropped its third-straight match Wednesday, falling to Brenau
University 7-2.
The Bobcats dropped all three in doubles play, as Diane
Danna (Paris) and Bertille
Lion (Lyon, France) were overtaken 8-6 by Lyn See Choo
and Kate Mazackova in the No. 1 spot. The Bobcat French duo fell to
9-9 on the season as did the freshmen pair of Kayla
Barksdale (Martinez, Ga.) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.). The Georgia
College freshmen went 9-8 (7-5) in a hard-fought tiebreaker loss to
Jolene Wong and Liubov Orlova, while Adriana
Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Linda
Mosa (Stockholm, Sweden) were retired 8-2 by Eline
Nagles and Hannah Thompson at third doubles.
In singles play, the No. 48 ranked Danna downed Choo 6-1 and
6-4, improving to 12-4 overall. Mazackova defeated Barksdale 6-4,
6-3 in the second position, while Lion claimed third singles 7-5
and 6-4 against Wong, advancing to a team-best 13-4 for the season.
Slotted fourth, Lingner surrendered a pair of 6-1 sets to
Thompson, while Mosa dropped her sets 6-0 and 6-1 against Orlova.
At sixth singles, Nagles took Acuna 6-1 and 6-2.
The Bobcats are back in action Thursday, April 8 traveling to
Anderson University for a 3 p.m. start time.
