MORROW, Ga. – The No. 27 Georgia College
& State University women's tennis team (12-12) ended its
2010 campaign Friday with a 5-0 loss at No. 10 Clayton State
University (17-7) in the Morrow Southeast Regional Semifinals.
The third doubles duo of Adriana Acuna (Peachtree City,
Ga.) and Linda Mosa (Stockholm, Sweden)
gave the Bobcats their closest chance at a win, succumbing 8-5 to
Evelin Csizi and Jessica Budd.
The first doubles duo of Bertille Lion (Lyon,
France) and Diane Danna (Paris, France)
lost 8-2 to Viktorya Semyrodenko and Ivana Krommelova. In the
second slot, the freshman pair of Kayla Barksdale
(Martinez, Ga.) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody,
Ga.) fell by the same score to Katie White and Marie
Cercelletti.
The Lakers needed just two victories to clinch the team win,
getting them at the fourth and fifth spots. Lingner was shut out by
Cercelletti in the fourth spot, while Mosa dropped a 6-0, 6-2 match
to Csizi.
The 2010 campaign featured a mind-boggling 16th
straight trip to the NCAA Tournament for Georgia College
women's tennis. Danna earned All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC)
honors at singles and as a pairing with Lion. Danna also earned a
spot on the PBC All-Academic Team.
