#9 Bobcat Men Fall to #11 Lander, 7-2

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 9 Georgia College men's tennis team (8-4, 3-3 PBC) lost their third Peach Belt Conference (PBC) match of the season at No. 11 Lander University (11-0, 3-0) Friday afternoon, 7-2.

The Bobcats fell behind 2-1 in doubles. Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) got GC started off on the right foot, dropping Paul-Henri Arrigoni and Oscar Axelsson, 8-1. Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Tyler Franks (Greensboro, Ga.) were defeated by Henrik Willers and Oscar Perman, 8-2. Tobias Rausch (Mannheim, Germany) and Robert Angelucci (Acworth, Ga.) were edged out by Carlos Marques and Christopher Mattsson, 8-4.

Leborgne played in the No. 1 spot but lost to Arrigoni, 7-5, 6-2, marking Leborgne's first loss in his last three matches. GC split the next two singles matches. Wadstein downed Willers, 6-7, 6-0, 10-4 but Rausch was defeated by Perman, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Wadstein improves to 7-4 on the season.

The Bobcats dropped the bottom three singles matches of the day. Bernardes was toppled by Marques, 6-4, 6-3. Franks was the next Bearcat victim as he fell to Axelsson, 6-2, 6-3. Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) closed out the day for the Bobcats dropping his match to Mattsson in three sets, 7-6, 6-4, 10-8.

The Bobcats will travel to Erskine College Tuesday, March 15 for a 2:30 p.m. start.
