#30 Bobcat Women Devour Bearcats, 8-1

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 30 Georgia College women's tennis team (8-3, 5-2 PBC) downed the Lander University Bearcats (10-3, 3-3 PBC) at Joe Cabri Courts Friday afternoon, 8-1. 

The Bobcats dominated the doubles portion of the match, 3-0. Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) took GC's first match of the day, downing Aurelia Ruffat and Cayce Bradley, 8-0. GC would continue to baffle the Bearcats as May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) downed Nicola James and Eliza Adusumilli, 8-3. The 'Cats won in grand fashion, 8-1 in the third slot when Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) and Kelly Edwards (Roswell, Ga.) toppled Brandi Cordell and Melanise Newbold. Johnson and Lingner continue to have the Midas touch, a perfec 6-0 as a pair.

GC continued their dominance in singles against the Saints going 5-1. Lion played in the No. 1 slot toppling Cordell, 6-1, 6-1. Johnson beat out Ruffat in convincing fashion in second singles, 6-1, 6-3. Barksdale recorded yet another victory in third singles defeating Adusmilli, 6-1, 6-4, improving her record to a team-best 8-2.

Lochner played out of the No. 4 spot, but dropped GC's only match of the day, 6-0, 6-2, breaking a streak of four straight wins. Setyon had another strong performance downing Bradley, 6-0, 6-2 and Lingner finished the day defeating Newbold, 6-1, 6-0.
The Bobcats are off until March 20 at noon, taking on the University of Montevallo at home for a noon start.
