#15 Bobcat Men Drop a Close One to #12 Saints, 5-4

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 15 Georgia College men's tennis team (14-7, 4-5 PBC) lost a tough match Monday afternoon to the No. 12 Flagler College Saints (10-6, 7-2), 5-4 at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

The Bobcats found themselves in a quick 3-0 hole after doubles. Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) played out of the No. 1 spot for the 'Cats but lost a close battle to David Cotrone and Gino Ramirez, 8-6.  Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Tyler Franks (Greensboro, Ga.) also dropped their match 8-6 as they couldn't get past Uriel Oquendo and Harry Snoxell.

In third doubles action, Tobias Rausch (Mannheim, Germany) and Robert Angelucci (Acworth, Ga.) were toppled by Peter Coulis and Adam Hunt, 8-2.

The Bobcats dominated singles play, winning 4-2. Leborgne could not get past national No. 3 ranked Cotrone, dropping the match 6-2, 6-4. Wadstein got GC on the board defeating Coulis in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. After being down 7-5 after the first set, Rausch rebounded to take the last two from Ramirez and finish him off, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Bernardes played out of the No. 4 spot for GC but fell to Snoxell, 6-3, 6-1. Franks picked up another win for GC, defeating Hunt in a three set marathon, 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 and Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) closed out the day with a win 6-3, 6-4, over Oquendo.

This ends the regular season for the Bobcat men. The team will play in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament, slated for April 15-17 at the Newman Tennis Center in Augusta, Ga., hosted by Augusta State University.
