#26 Bobcat Women Fall to #12 Clayton State in PBC Tournament, 5-2

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 26 Georgia College women's tennis team's (16-8) Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament came to an abrupt end Friday afternoon as the Bobcats were defeated by No. 12 Clayton State University (14-6), 5-2.

The Bobcats found themselves in a hole after doubles, 2-1. Out of the No. 1 spot, Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) dropped the first match of the day to Ivanna Krommelova and Viktoriya Semyrodenko, 8-2. May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) got the victory out of the second spot defeating Katie White and Marie Cercelletti, 8-6. Johnson and Lingner improve to 14-5 on the season.

Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) and Kelly Edwards (Roswell, Ga.) played out of the No. 3 spot for the 'Cats but were edged out by Martina Dedaj and Jessica Budd, 8-6.

Lion played in the No. 1 spot and fell to Semyrodenko in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. Kim Lochner (Neu-Isenburg, Germany) played out of the four spot for the Bobcats and was toppled by Cerceletti, 6-1, 6-0. Lingner played out of the sixth spot downing Charlotte Fabakius, 6-2, 6-2, improving her singles mark to 12-5.

In fifth singles action, Setyon dropped the clinching match to Dedaj, 6-3, 7-5, halting the match at a 5-2 score.

This brings an end to the PBC Tournament for the Bobcats. The team will now await their fate for an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals.
