#26 Bobcat Women Pound Hurricanes, 8-1

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 26 Georgia College women's tennis team (12-5, 7-2 PBC) ran through Saturday afternoon's match with ease, downing Georgia Southwestern State University (12-8, 2-7 PBC), 8-1 at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

The Bobcats quickly found themselves up after the doubles portion, 3-0. Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) and Kelly Edwards (Roswell, Ga.) finished up first for the Bobcats playing out of the No. 3 spot blanking Jessica Rigdon and Melinda Vansant, 8-0.

Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) finished up last which got GC the sweep downing Leady Cuellar and Ginny Jones, 8-1. The Bobcats' first doubles pair now has a streak of seven wins. May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) had the same result dropping Brooke Anglin and Mollie McGowan, 8-1.

Lion sat out of singles with an illness but the Bobcats remained solid. Barksdale finished first in singles out of the No. 2 spot rolling over Jones, 6-1, 6-0. Setyon finished up right behind her in the fourth slot downing McGowan and clinching the match for the 'Cats, 6-0, 6-1. In third singles, Lochner downed Anglin, 6-1, 6-2. Setyon moves to 13-2 on the season, with a streak of eight wins.

Lingner made quick work of Vansant, 6-0, 6-1 playing out of the No. 5 slot. Johnson played in the one spot for the first time this season and took down Cuellar in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Tracy Bain (Norcross, Ga.) stepped into the sixth spot for GC but dropped GC's only match of the day in a battle with Bigdon, 6-3, 5-7, 10-7.

The women and men will travel to Columbus State University tomorrow, April 3 for a 2 p.m. start.
