#26 Bobcat Women Dominate Anderson, 8-1

ANDERSON, S.C. The No. 26 Georgia College women's tennis team (14-7) dropped the Anderson University Trojans with ease (9-5) Friday, 8-1.

The Bobcats found themselves ahead after doubles, 3-0. Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) partnered with Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) playing out of the No. 1 spot defeating Avery Owens and Lauren Trumbull, 8-4. May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) played at two for the 'Cats and downed Camie Brunet and Julie Halbert, 8-2. Both pairs share the team lead with 12 doubles wins.

In third doubles, Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) and Kelly Edwards (Roswell, Ga.) edged out Anderson's Shelby Anderson and Emily Weiland 8-6.

Lion played out of the No. 1 spot and toppled Brunet in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5. Johnson had another strong outing downing Owens, 6-1, 6-0. Barksdale and Halbert squared off at the No. 3 spot but Barksdale got the better of that deal, 6-3, 6-2.

Kim Lochner (Neu-Isenburg, Germany) dropped GC's only match of the day, losing out to Trumbull, 6-1, 6-1. Setyon got her 16th win of the season downing Anderson, 6-2, 6-2 and Lingner finished off the day defeating Weiland, 7-5, 6-1.

Up next, the Bobcats will come home to play the University of West Georgia Sunday, April 10 for a 1 p.m. start.
