No. 15 Bobcat Men Maul Maroon Tigers 9-0 in Season Opener

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 15 Georgia College men's tennis team (1-0) kicked off their 2012 season with an impressive 9-0 sweep over Morehouse College Sunday afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Complex. 

The Bobcats began the day by running through the doubles portion of the match unscathed, as the No. 1 tandem of Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) defeated Jordan Bailey and Michael Cutrer, 8-0. 

The No. 2 duo of Tyler Franks (Greensboro, Ga.) and newcomer Kasper Konyves (Helsingborg, Sweden) won 8-2 in their match, while the third pairing of Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) and Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) won 8-1 to round out the doubles session. 

GC enjoyed identical success in the singles portion of the match, with Leborgne taking down Cutrer in the No. 1 slot in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Wadstein capped off a clean slate for the day at the No. 2 singles slot, downing Morehouse's Dewayne Dixon 6-0, 6-0. 

Bernardes would also make quick work of Kahai Hall 6-0, 6-1, and Tyler Franks won in similar fashion 6-1, 6-1 over Noah Terry. 

Alex Schubert (Germany), a recent addition to the Bobcat squad, didn't disappoint with a 6-2, 6-0 showing over James Pressley and Konyves rounded out the scoring for the 'Cats with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. 

The Bobcat men will join the women's team in hosting Anderson University (S.C.) Friday, Feb. 10 beginning at 2 p.m.
