Box Score

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Getting another great offensive output, the Georgia College baseball team (17-11, 9-5 PBC) edged the University of Montevallo (16-16, 10-8 PBC) 17-15 Sunday, taking the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series from the Falcons 2-1.

Catcher Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) and second baseman Jeremy Donaldson (Winder, Ga.) wowed the crowd, recording two home runs each to power GC to victory. Every spot in the GC order recorded a hit, as each team pounded out 22 hits in the barnburner.

Maas finished 5-for-6 with five RBI and four runs, as rightfielder Bryce Williams (Manhattan, Kan.) came off the pine to go 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run. Both of Donaldson's hits went over the fence, finishing with four RBI and three runs scored.

Third baseman Travis Echols (Suwanee, Ga.) tallied four hits in six trips, scoring four times as well. Karsten Strieby (Blair, Was.) and Heine Rivera (Fayetteville, Ga.) rounded out the multi-hit performers at two each.

GC put up four runs in three separate innings, and was up 17-11 heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Falcons tallied two runs each in the seventh and eighth to cut the advantage to 17-15, but could inch no closer.

Bobcat reliever Matthew Robinson (Hull, Ga.) got the win (1-0) in 3 1/3 innings, surrendering two runs. Drew Boyer (1-2) took the loss for the Falcons. UM had multi-hit performers from the first eight slots in the order, led by catcher Alex Stiver at 4-for-6 with three RBI.

The Bobcats get just a single day off before heading to Florida, taking on Barry University and Florida Tech both on Tuesday, March 27 at Florida Tech's field in Melbourne, Fla. Action begins at 1 p.m.
