#14 Bobcat Men Bounce Bulldogs, 7-2

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. –The No. 14 Georgia College men's tennis squad (3-3) picked up a solid non-conference victory Wednesday afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility, defeating the Wingate University Bulldogs (6-4) 7-2.

The No. 1 tandem of Jerome Leborgne (Coordimanche, France) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) got things started with an 8-3 victory over Flavio Rathsam and Ryan Forbes.

The Bobcats would then take a commanding lead after the No. 2 doubles team of Kasper Konyves (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Tyler Franks (Greensboro, Ga.) defeated Neal Towlson and Josh Eardley 8-6, while Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) and Leo Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) took down Diego Martinez and Andrew Owen 8-4.

In singles action, Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) made quick work of Ryan Forbes winning in straight-sets 6-2, 6-0.

In the No. 1 slot Leborgne also won in straight-sets over Rathsam 7-6, 6-0, but Wadstein fell in a heartbreaker to Owen 3-6, 7-5, 10-7.

Bernardes would clinch the victory for the 'Cats with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 performance over Martinez at the No. 3.

Wingate's Towlson managed to contain Konyves at the No. 4 position 6-2, 6-3.

Rounding out the scoring for Georgia College was Franks who dismantled Eardley 6-2, 6-3.

The Bobcats will hit the road to take on Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Francis Marion University Sunday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m.
