DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Georgia College softball team (23-21, 7-9 PBC) dropped a pair of Peach Belt Conference (PBC) contests to No. 13 North Georgia (35-7, 9-3 PBC) Tuesday afternoon. The Bobcats fell 2-1 in the first game and faltered in the second 9-1.

Senior righty Sabrina Chandler (Covington, Ga.) was the hard-luck loser in game one, going the distance for the 'Cats while allowing just a pair of runs on six hits.

Unfortunately, she was outdueled by North Georgia's Melissa Dickie despite a pair of hits from Kristen Humphries (Columbus, Ga.) and Frankie Walls (Dahlonega, Ga.) who each finished 2-for-3.

Kelsea Martin (Dacula, Ga.) drove in the lone Bobcat run, plating Haley Burnett (Columbus, Ga.) on a triple in the top of the fourth.

The tying run would reach base in the top of the seventh with a Humphries leadoff single but the 'Cats couldn't manage to bring her around, dropping the contest 2-1.

GC would rebound quickly in game two as a leadoff double from Whitney Okvist (Kennesaw, Ga.) turned into a 1-0 lead following a Michel'le Hull (Stone Mountain, Ga.) RBI single.

Okvist went 3-for-3 in game two to lead the 'Cats, stealing another base to extend her GC single season record to 50 for the year.

After putting up a zero in the bottom half, game two starter Burnett would run into trouble giving up three runs in just 1 1/3 innings of work.

Freshman reliever Erica Bell (Fayetteville, Ga.) wouldn't fare much better going 2 1/3 innings while surrendering four earned runs en route to the 9-1 loss in a shortened game.

Saints starter Kristen Connelly would go all five innings giving up just one run on five hits.

The Bobcats will host Lander University Friday, April 13 for a crucial PBC doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
