by Matt Dalby, sports information graduate assistant

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 5-seeded Georgia College women (13-9) upended No. 4-seed Flagler College (9-9) in the quarterfinals of the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament by a score of 5-1 Friday afternoon.

Georgia College grabbed a win at the second doubles spot from May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Leah Pridgeon (Lawrenceville, Ga.) who defeated Krista Ingrilli and Jennifer Saviano 9-8.

The All-PBC Second Team duo of Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Lisa Setyon-Ortenzio (Paris) dropped their top doubles match 8-5 against Rachel Gould and Barbora Sebkova.

The 'Cats would pick up the point at the third doubles position by default to snatch a 2-1 lead heading to singles action.

Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) picked up a win by default at the sixth singles spot, while Johnson won at the top position after Sebkova was forced to retire.

Barksdale would clinch the match for the Bobcats with a straight-set 6-1, 6-1 domination of Ingrilli at the fourth singles slot.

The win propels Georgia College into the PBC semifinals where they will square off with No. 1-seed Armstrong (20-0) Saturday beginning at noon.
