ATLANTA
– The No. 16 Georgia College men's tennis team (1-0)
opened the spring season on the road against Morehouse College
(0-1) Friday afternoon, with the Bobcats sweeping the Maroon Tigers
9-0. The Bobcats did not lose a single set during the match.
Georgia College took doubles action, surrendering just six games.
2012 All-American Johan
Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) paired with Andreas
Ainalides (Huesenstamm, Germany) in the top doubles
spot. The duo came away with an 8-1 victory over Kahai Hill and
Jabez Beazer.
Wictor
Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) teamed with Yannick Hass
(Troisdorf, Germany) for the second doubles position and
won 8-4 over Chris Hawthorne and Nathaniel Sinckler.
Alex
Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) and freshman Taylor Powell
(Martinez, Ga.) played in the final doubles spot and
netted an 8-1 victory over Joseph Brooks and PJ Stamps.
National No. 47 Wadstein won his singles match in the first
position against Hall 6-2, 6-1. Ainalides won his singles match in
the second position against Beazer 6-1, 6-0.
Playing in the third slot, Mattia Campus (Rome,
Italy) picked up his first collegiate win over Hawthorne
6-1, 7-5. Schubert won his singles match in the fourth position
against Sinckler via shutout.
Hass made quick work of James Pressley in his singles match,
winning 6-1, 6-1, and in the sixth slot, Andersson won his singles
match against Jonathan McFarland 6-3, 6-2.
The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, Feb. 6 when they travel to
take on No. 13 Valdosta State University.
