#16 Bobcat Men Finish #26 Flagler, 6-3

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.  – Powered by four singles wins, the No. 16 Georgia College men's tennis team (4-2, 2-1 PBC) edged No. 26 Flagler College (1-3, 0-1 PBC) 6-3 Saturday.

The Bobcats picked up a 2-1 advantage after doubles. Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) and Wictor Andersson (Karlskoga, Sweden) teamed for an 8-4 win over Inigo Landaluce and David Espinosa in the second slot.

Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) and Taylor Powell (Martinez, Ga.) battled to an 8-6 win in the third spot over Bruno Padilha and Stephan Stolz.

Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Andreas Ainalides (Heusenstamm, Germany) couldn't make it a sweep, as Jose Martinez and Peter Coulis slid by 9-7.

Ainalides rebounded to pick up the first singles win of the match, dropping Coulis 1-6, 7-5, 6-0 in the second spot. Landaluce beat Mattia Campus (Rome, Italy) 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 in third singles, making the score 3-2 Bobcats.  

In the match's lone ranked battle, No. 40 Martinez beat No. 47 Wadstein 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 to even the match score at 3-3.

Hass followed with a straight-set 6-4, 6-2 over Padilha in the fifth slot, then Shubert clinched the team win by making quick work of Stolz 6-2, 6-0 in fourth singles. Andersson finished off the final Saint with a 6-4, 6-3 straight-set win over Espinosa.

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, Feb. 26, hosting No. 1 Armstrong at 2 p.m.
