#18 Men's Tennis Defeats #30 North Georgia, 7-2

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – No. 18 Georgia College men's tennis team (10-3, 4-2 PBC) took on No. 30 University of North Georgia (4-6, 1-6 PBC) Friday afternoon with the Bobcats taking home a decisive 7-2 victory.

Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) and Johan Wadstein (Helsingborg, Sweden) took on Felipe Friedrich and Matheus Guida. The top doubles team for the Bobcats lost 8-2, the first lost for the duo in the last four matches.

Wictor Andersson (Kalskoga, Sweden) and Andreas Ainalides (Heusenstamm, Germany) played in the No. 3 doubles slot and came away with the 8-4 victory against Mario Mesquita and Ernesto Farinas.

Alex Schubert (Frankfurt, Germany) and Taylor Powell (Martinez, Ga.) continued their impressive season as a team, securing their 12th doubles victory of the year in impressive fashion. Powell and Schubert came away with a 9-7 comeback win against Giovani Santos and Sam Gantt.

Hass made quick work of Santos, downing the Saint 6-2, 6-2. Schubert pushed the score to 4-2 in favor of Georgia College with a 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Anthony Veryard.

No. 47 Wadstein battled against Friedrich in the No. 1 singles slot, but finished on the wrong end of a 6-4, 6-3 decision.

Ainalides clinched the Bobcat team victory with a comeback win against Guida. Ainalides dropped the first set 6-3 before taking the final two 6-3, 6-4.

Andersson took down Mesquita in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 and Mattia Campus (Rome, Italy) finished the day for the Bobcats with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Gannt. Andersson has won the last five matches while Campus has come away with a win his last six times on the court.

The Bobcats return to action Monday, March 18 when they take on Erskine College in a neutral site match in Augusta, Ga.
