#18 Women's Tennis Subdues Saints, 7-2

DAHOLNEGA, Ga. – No. 18 Georgia College women's tennis team (6-7, 3-4 PBC) took to the court for the third match in three days Friday afternoon. The Bobcats faced off against the University of North Georgia (2-9, 1-7 PBC) and came away with a 7-2 victory.

The Bobcats started the afternoon off with a sweep of doubles play. Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Katie Krupp (Evans, Ga.) paired together for their third win in a row, taking down Mathilda Baartvedt and Natalia Escobar 8-5.

May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) took on Cameron Williams and Adalyn Hazelman in the second doubles slot. The Bobcat duo cruised to an easy 8-2 victory.

Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) and Sarah Murray (Alpharetta, Ga.) rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-6 defeat of Audrey Marlette and Nela Handac.

Barksdale continued her impressive senior season with a 6-0, 6-4 defeat of Escobar. The win was Barksdale's ninth of the season and seventh in a row. Krupp followed her doubles teammate with another quick victory, clinching the Bobcat team victory with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Hazelman. The win gives Krupp eight on the season.

Playing in the No. 1 slot, Marevic dropped a hard fought match against Williams, 6-1, 6-3. Johnson finished right behind Marevic and came away with a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the No. 2 slot playing against Baartvedt.

The freshman Murray faced off against a senior in Jordan Poole and lost 6-0, 6-1. Lingner finished off the afternoon with a win, taking down Mallory Kolts 6-3, 6-0.

The Bobcats return to action Monday, March 18 when they take on No. 35 Indiana University of Pennsylvania in a neutral site match in Augusta, Ga.
